Mission of the Moose

The mission of the Moose is built on the principle that “a burden heavy to one is borne lightly by many”, reflecting a deep commitment to fraternity, service, and making a tangible difference in the lives of members and the communities they serve Moose International.

Fraternity and Brotherhood 

The Moose fosters strong bonds of friendship and mutual support among men and women, including the Moose Legionnaires. This sense of belonging is the foundation for all other activities and charitable work.

Charitable Giving and Community Service

The organization dedicates significant resources to helping those in need. Annually, Moose members contribute $75–$100 million worth of service through donations, volunteer hours, and miles driven.  

• Mooseheart Child City & School (1,000-acre campus near Chicago) provides a home, care, and education for children and teens in need from infancy through high school.
• Moosehaven (near Jacksonville, FL) is a five-star retirement community for senior Moose members.
• Programs like Tommy Moose offer comfort to children in traumatic situations through donated plush dolls.
• Support for national charities such as the Salvation Army, Safe Surfin’ USA, Big Brothers–Big Sisters, and St. Jude. 
• Thomson Moose 477 is committed to supporting local families facing financial hardships through targeted assistance programs. Our comprehensive approach includes resource distribution and community engagement to create sustainable support networks.
